My Two Cents: With the rise of social media and technology, teens are missing out on vital nature literacy which not only separates their connection to the natural world, but withholds from them the mental and physical health benefits nature has to offer. A lot of the time, teens pose for pictures outdoors for the scenic natural backgrounds, although our native trees and flora are never given the credit they deserve. So, we used social media (instagram) to encourage more teens to step outside and learn by creating Natural Extras. By creating an instagram talent agency of native trees and plants, teens could tag the specific native ‘talent’ and in return know another would be planted with their efforts.
